Dyed the fabric of the A pillars, C pillars, and headliner black. Got rid of the broken metal cover that slides over the sunroof and cleaned out the sensors and connectors for the sunroof in an attempt to make it work more reliably. It works reliably now but is super slow for some reason and will occasionally get stuck.Sigh. Can’t win with this shit.

I do like the contrast of leaving the sun visors and plastic light surrounds tan, though. Might stick with that.

As an added bonus, this is how the CD holder that was in the car, and this is how it was fastened in. Nice. I thought I recognized it from an early-2000s BMW 5 series, and it turns out I was right. This unit usually sits in the center console of a 5 series sedan, but someone decided to epoxy the shit out of it and replace the GM unit in this Riviera. Because why not?

That stereo unit was probably stolen. Funny nonetheless.

I like the use of what looks like a bent up picture hanger as a bracket for the CD holder

It is. I stole it out of my Miata and haven’t bought an install kit yet.

Ooooh! That’s what that is! I kept thinking it was a piece of the world’s shittiest hacksaw blade.

Oh. That’s not a stereo, just a CD holder. Literally some over-designed fancy plastic trays to hold CDs that you aren’t playing so you don’t have to use one of those visor things like a plebian. The GM ones break so this guy grabbed the epoxy and stuffed a cd holder from a bimmer in his american luxoboat

Oh. Excuse my suspicion. I live in Memphis so I'm just used to people stealing stereos and stuff. It's not as bad as the wheel theft in Newark and Detroit but it's up there.

Those cd boxes are still made by a company in Germany. Fischer Automotive Products. They come custom fit for many German makes, and as a “universal fit” version.

Can’t win with this shit.

Considering that this is a $650 beater that you bought on the quick out of necessity, and all the work you’ve put into it to turn it into a decent DD, I’d say you’re winning in all kinds of ways. That’s MY perspective, anyhow.

Try gooping a ton a silicone grease (i.e. sil-glide from Napa) all over the sunroof tracks.
